I get a kick out of being born in a Year of the Dragon. It's an auspicious sign of the Chinese zodiac. Those born in the Year of the Dragon are typically thought to be good leaders, as well as ambitious, energetic, determined and confident. I admit that I feel a bit of a boost by being associated with this sign.
The Dragon is the only mythological creature in the Chinese zodiac. It is composed of 9 animals, including the body of a snake, the horns of a deer, the head of an ox, the mouth of a crocodile, the claws of an eagle, and the scales of a fish, a powerful combination, indeed. The fact that it's imaginary says to me that I can imagine my future success and focus on making it a reality.
Regardless of your Chinese zodiac sign, this year can be your year, too. Each new year provides an opportunity to examine what's working and what isn't in your career and your life. As a coach, it's my role to help clients bring out the wisdom inside of them and this is typically done with questions.
To help you get started on your own analysis, here are some questions that you can ask yourself. Write the answers down and then allow yourself to mull over what you wrote. You might be surprised by the wisdom that emerges.
What is the part of my job that makes me eager to get to work?
What is the part of my job that makes me want to leave?
What is most important to me in my life now?
How am I doing with making time for what's important to me in my life?
If I could change one thing in my life, what would it be?
Imagine that it's the end of 2024. What are you most proud of?
I'd love to hear how you answered those questions. I wish you a happy, healthy, wonderful 2024.
